Video Contests

posted in Uncategorized |

My wife told me about a new Heinz Ketchup commercial contest.  The winner gets $57,000!  Not too shabby.  Of course Heinz gets off pretty cheap in getting all that creative for free.  But maybe it’s not that cheap considering they have to sift through all the absolute crap entries to find anything decent, not to mention the potential for the whole campaign backfiring as was the case for Chevy.  What the hell, let’s give it a shot.  Check back for updates.

Another cool video/film contest that is not as commercially skewed is the monthly call for entries at filmaka.com.  Some pretty interesting stuff coming out of there.  They give you a very loose theme to follow (usually just one word) and you submit a 1-3 minute short.  Winners get some cash and the chance to compete against the other finalists for more money and the annual grand prize of a feature contract.  I think I’m going to be very busy in the coming months.
