Straw Bale House

For years my mom has been talking about building a straw bale house and living off grid. At first I thought she was crazy for wanting to live in a house of straw, but after some research I’m looking forward to the day she actually tries it. I love the idea of having all that extra insulation!

Check out greenhomebuilding.com for great resources to building with straw bales.  These folks know their stuff..

Exciting Green Projects on the Horizon!

On June 19, 2007 in Uncategorized

OK. Since this is my first real post, here’s a little background information on me - I work at a video production facility in the midwest that produces corporate and commercial videos for a wide variety of local and regional clients.

It turns out that just today I learned of two new projects we will be undertaking that are green in nature. One is definite and the other is in its infancy. The project we’re doing for sure is an online primer for Mechanical Contractors that addresses the issues of building green in large scale construction projects. We’ll be taping one of the nations top engineers in the field of building green and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) compliance, as well as taping a meeting of the Chicago USGBC.
The second project is a pilot of a renewable energy show that will be pitched to Discovery Network’s new PlanetGreen channel!

Check back for updates…

Welcome!

Getting off the grid and into a fully self-sustained renewable energy home and office is a wonderful goal, but what does it take? What can be done on a budget?

We can get there, if only one step at a time. Help us out. Post your comments, encouragement, rants and of course your own experiences and advice.
